Show off your Tandems!
« on: January 09, 2011, 01:30:16 PM »
I bought this bike from the original owner from Phoenix.  A few years ago he had it restored.  I bought and paid him in early December (2009) and could not pick it up until April 17th (2010).  Jim was great to work with….  This picture was from the first day I owned it.

I have since added a 6 pie reflector and a Ball headlight.  I also have a Kickback wheel that I bought from Jeff.  I will get some newer pictures up soon.

Yes, yes. Please do show those Tandems.  I like Tandems but don't have a partner to ride with anymore. :)

I recently saw a "Bicycle Built for Two". What a sweet vintage ride.

Not really. They've been gone for awhile now and the bike hung in the rafters of their cottage garage for decades prior. There is very little component wear or paint damage due to the long hibernation but humidity took it's toll on the chrome. I just brought it home last year, disassembled it, acid soaked all the chrome, replaced the rear hoop, polished and waxed everything and cleaned and greased the bearings. All cad parts were scotch-brited and sprayed with dull aluminum spray. Original tires/ tubes are in great shape. Bike detailed out very nicely.Looking forward to riding it this summer with my family like I used to ride it when I was a kid. Lots of great northern memories there.

Wow, each Tandem posted so far is looking great, super nice looking bikes.  I've always kinda wanted a tandem but the wife poo poo'd the idea but now that my daughter is up and riding it might be time to seek one out.  I missed out last summer on a really nice coppertone Twinn because I hesitated, my foot is still sore from kicking myself :o  Here is a crappy pic of what I missed out on...I saw it in person and it was nice!

Thanks!!!!!   That  Coppertone was a nice one.

I have a Yellow 5 speed one without wheels.  I am thinking about how to get wheels for it.  Jennifer sent me a link for some 5 speed wheels. (I am not sure on the width)   Charlie has a NOS rear wheel...  I found a Nexus 7 rear wheel....  I really do not want to spend to much on this....  It is needs to find a new home in the Spring....

OK... It's time to bring out the bomb!
Ladies and Gentlepeople, I give you Tandemonium!

This would be a '64 "Bicycle Built For Two" according to the chainguard. I have a new decal for it, bt won't put it on until we get the refinish issue resolved. It presently is back on S-2s, and looks a lot more at home on them. I am still resisting hunting the fenders up from the trailer...  This is a great riding , barge class beast! I've had my wife out on it a couple of times, and it's starting to be nice in the late aftertnoons again, so we'll be back out on it again.

Here's the other one - also a BBFT, but a year older. photos are from the ad we bought it from. Schwinncoll is blamed for this one. He called me up and said there was this tandem on CL I should look in to. It was planted in the guys' backyard. I think they call this a trellis in the gardening world.... Oddly enough, not one part of this bike gave any resistance to being removed. (High quality hardware!!)

This one is hanging on the wall in the little shed, awaiting a trip to the stand after some kind of refinish option is exercised... or is that exorcised?

Thanks for lookiing!

Here is my very original '66 Deluxe Twinn. New cables but all else original including the rubber. Actually not mine anymore, it went last month as part of a trade for a '74 Paramount P13. Sad to see it go but it did take some space in the garage. Tandems are cool but I love them lightwieghts!
