I can't seem to locate a serial preceded by any letter as indicated in all the date code guides. The only number I have found is stamped on the upper rear of the seat tube as shown in the picture below? I read to look on frame on the the underside of the  crank, but nothing found there. Thoughts?

Pull the crank. Lil Tiger didn't follow the normal serial number system as I recall.  I have few Lil Tigers myself.

Winged or round guard?

Ok, I'll pull the crank and see what I can find. Anyone have pics of their's?

The guard is the winged style, I took pics of front and rear:

That makes your Lil Tiger older than 1969. If I reecall correctly that is the year of the chainguard change.

Thanks very much for that info on the winged design timeline change. As I believe I mentioend in another thread, this bike was purchased from Reggie Pink in White Plains, NY. I remember they always had ALOT of inventory, so when this was purchased for me as a Christmas present (possibly it Christmas 1970 I can't recall exactly), then it's a good chance it was a prior year model they still had in stock at that time.

I have some spare time today so will spend time with the Lil' Tiger. Yesterday at the last minute my son and I hopped into the truck and drove out to Pocono for the Pennsylavania 500 NASCAR race. We got to our seats and due to an early rain delay there were a decent amount of open seats (so we 'upgraded to near the Start/Finish line). I mention the trip becuase on our way in my son spotted an Apple Krate  with an RV that was being used to get around the grounds... All in all a good day out...

I got the majority of my lil' tiger finished today, albeit on short time. I just have to locate where I placed the rear screw for the chain guard and then the assembley is complete, sans the training wheels which I left to the side for the pics. After I get the one guard screw in and lubricate the chain, its ready for riding...

So here are two pics of my all original very first bike as it site today:
