New to restorations - Love the OCC Stingrays
« on: December 06, 2015, 11:23:35 AM »
So, my interest has mostly been in motorcycles and R/C trucks.  I believe that anything a factory can do, I can better.  Therefore, my interest is mostly in customization and making the (whatever it is) my own.  I found 2 bikes at a flea market for 35 bucks each.  I totally stripped them down and inspected bearings, etc.

The green one is my daughter's Christmas present and the pinstriped one I am keeping for myself.
Later, I found a roached out XL (without knowing what is was) and that is my current project.

Yup, put your own signature on them as you see fit.

Then ride them yourself, or, as you're doing with your daughter's, give them to someone and watch them smile!  ;)

Love hearing these kind of stories. She will never forget what you did. My son is 12 and still talks about the "Blue Bomb" I built up for him about five years ago.

That looks pretty cool. I could picture my son and his best friend cruising around the neighborhood on it.

I just picked up a HUGE blue OCC today, stock and a lil rough, but it was free.   It's so darn big and heavy it makes me laugh just looking at it.  I drug it inside (as it had the tires off cause its a foot longer than my bike rack and wouldnt fit in my 4 door jeep!) I threw the wheels back on and called the lady out...she laughed too and asked what I was gonna do with it and inquired to what exactly it was?!  We both decided I had to throw some air in the tires so we could each ride it ONCE.  If I was into this kinda thing and lived near town, it would make a cruiser and its definitely different...I guess I just don't get it.
