Schwinn "S" seats
« on: May 19, 2013, 11:54:33 AM »
Can someone tell me the years/models for each of the three "S" type seats in the attached picture?  Is/are any of the seats pictured for boys/girls only?

The one on the left is violet, the center one is red, and the one on the right is rose. All three of these seats have the molded covers, no rivets.

Thanks,
Ed

The violet one matches the 66 or 68ish twinn (tandem) & hollywood - they look like mid 1960's through early 70's - they probably where available as options on other models but came on middleweights -

I might add that the red one was originally teal blue.  I re-did it using duplicolor red and white "vinyl and fabric coating."  I also re-did the white on the violet seat; need to do the same to the rose seat.

The violet one is from a lightweight probably late 60's. The red/teal and rose are off girls middleweights.  Probably Starlet with the beehive springs on the teal and Hollywood, American on the Rose. Full size middleweight seats are 9X9 in size. No rivet seats started in 63 for the most part.

Thanks everyone for your insights.  It will make it easier to match seats with bikes now.  One more question and I'll let this thread rest.  Is the lightweight seat more comfortable than the pan seats?  Just by looking at it, it seems that it would be.
