That bike was already mentioned here: http://www.schwinnbikeforum.com/index.php?topic=22887.0

Silver Mist ('71) was a one-year only color on the Sports Tourer, and is fairly rare.

One interesting thing about the Sports Tourer is that there were more one-year only colors than there were colors available for multiple years. Besides Silver Mist, other one-year only colors were Burgundy ('71), Kool Orange ('71), Opaque Green ('72), Sunset Orange ('73), Opaque Red ('74), Sky Blue ('75) and Lime Green ('75). From what I've seen the '71 and '75 one-year only color models are the rarest and most desirable. Bearing this out the highest selling prices for Sports Tourers that I've seen were mint '71 Silver Mist ($1100 in 2009) and Burgundy ($750 in Feb. 2012) models.

The only Sports Tourer colors available for multiple years were Kool Lemon ('71-'75), Sierra Brown ('71-'72), and Opaque Blue ('72-'74), with the Kool Lemon and Opaque Blue being the colors most commonly seen.

According to the seller it has an aluminum frame. Aluminum framed Sports Tourers are very, very rare.  Must have been tough to filet braze those aluminum tubes together.

Well, to be fair it's at a pawn shop called Pottstown Cash Traders, and I don't think bikes are their specialty. If anybody is local to that place you could probably go in there and get a better deal in person. Of course they are probably infected with the BBCbikes disease, so you might not get a deal after all. <g>

I'll be riding up there tomorrow to pick it up. It's a half hour from me. I'll probably part it out, I need some parts for my Lady Super Sport project.

That's kinda crazy since a '71 Silver Mist is one of the most valuable Sports Tourers out there, but at least if you do part it out you should get a lot for the Silver Mist frame/fork and the '71-only 36-54T version of the TA crankset.

Nyet, not in my basement, there's no room. Just some chain yanking for all those bike parters.  It's still in Pottstown at the Pawn shop ::)
