1986 Schwinn Cruiser 5 ... built by Giant
« on: December 19, 2011, 06:50:44 PM »
I bought this 1986 Schwinn Cruiser 5 a few months ago. It basically looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Even the little paper sticker on the rear dropout stating it was made for Schwinn by Giant is still intact.

Everytime I see one in this condition it makes me want a non Chicago Schwinn cruiser....
even if only for the parts for one of my Chicago "Frankenschwinn" projects.
I'll probably end up with one and use it as the foundation for a grocery getter.
Had one of these frames a couple years ago and gave it away to a local kid that was
just getting into Schwinn cruisers and wanted to build his own.

Rarely see them this clean
Set your goal higher than your potential.
Strive hard toward that goal and you will surpass what you THOUGHT was your maximum potential even
if you don't reach that goal.

Wow, that is a really clean Cruiser, don't think I've ever seen one this nice.  I've had a couple of them (2 1987s) and they weren't even close.  They are nice bikes to ride and the seat is the most comfortable seat ever put on a cruiser (in my opinion).
